Proposes to amend the Suffrage and Elections Article of the Illinois Constitution. Repeals language denying a person convicted of a felony, or otherwise under sentence in a correctional institution or jail, the right to vote until completion of his or her sentence. Effective upon being declared adopted.

5 | | SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that there shall be submitted to the |
6 | | electors of the State for adoption or rejection at the general |
7 | | election next occurring at least 6 months after the adoption |
8 | | of this resolution a proposition to amend Section 2 of Article |
9 | | III of the Illinois Constitution as follows:

13 | | SECTION 2. VOTING DISQUALIFICATIONS (REPEALED)

14 | | A person convicted of a felony, or otherwise under |

correctional institution or jail, shall lose the |
16 | | right to vote, which
right shall be restored not later than |
17 | | upon completion of his sentence.
