| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of James | ||||||
| 4 | "Jim" E. Stack Jr. of Collinsville, who passed away on | ||||||
| 5 | December 24, 2020; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Jim Stack was born to James E. Stack Sr. and Wilma | ||||||
| 7 | Rose (Grob) Stack in Granite City on July 20, 1947; he | ||||||
| 8 | graduated from Granite City High School in 1965; he served in | ||||||
| 9 | the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War; as a member of the | ||||||
| 10 | Construction Battalion, he served 18 months in Da Nang | ||||||
| 11 | Vietnam; he first served as a member of Naval Intelligence, | ||||||
| 12 | but mostly worked as a truck master for the Port of Da Nang; he | ||||||
| 13 | was awarded the Navy Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal | ||||||
| 14 | with one Bronze Star, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Navy | ||||||
| 15 | Unit Commendation Ribbon, and three commendations for breaking | ||||||
| 16 | the record of materials shipped in one day and breaking that | ||||||
| 17 | record twice more; he married Karen (Griffith) Stack in | ||||||
| 18 | Edwardsville on November 27, 1985; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Jim Stack first worked at McDonnell Douglas | ||||||
| 20 | before joining the service; he then worked as a Rate Setter for | ||||||
| 21 | the former General Steel Company, and he served as the | ||||||
| 22 | Assistant Superintendent of Streets in Granite City; he had | ||||||
| 23 | also owned and operated Stackorp, Inc./St. Louis Lead | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | Recycling and Stack Environmental Consulting; later, he also | ||||||
| 2 | co-owned and operated REDCO Marine and Stackers Restaurant; he | ||||||
| 3 | retired in December 2013 from the Illinois Department of | ||||||
| 4 | Transportation after 11 years of dedicated service as the | ||||||
| 5 | Urban Planning Unit Chief; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Jim Stack was involved in his community | ||||||
| 7 | throughout the years, serving on various boards and | ||||||
| 8 | volunteering for many organizations; most recently, he was | ||||||
| 9 | serving on the Collinsville Township Board of Trustees and as | ||||||
| 10 | a Madison County Deputy Coroner; he had served as Madison | ||||||
| 11 | County Democratic Party Chairman from June of 2012 until April | ||||||
| 12 | of 2014; he was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Jesters and a | ||||||
| 13 | lifetime members of AMVETS Post #204 in Madison; he was a | ||||||
| 14 | member of the Ainad Shrine in East St. Louis and the | ||||||
| 15 | Troy/Edwardsville Shrine Club and served on the Shriner's | ||||||
| 16 | Honorary Guard and the director's staff; he was also a former | ||||||
| 17 | Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus in Granite City; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Jim Stack enjoyed boating and fishing; he had | ||||||
| 19 | many friends and was considered to be the life of the party; he | ||||||
| 20 | knew how to have fun, cherished his grandchildren, and had an | ||||||
| 21 | amazing array of accomplishments; and | ||||||
| 22 | WHEREAS, Jim Stack was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
| 23 | and his aunt, Eleanor Buente; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, Jim Stack is survived by his wife of 35 years; his | ||||||
| 2 | two stepchildren, Paul (Gigi) DeLuca and Laura DeLuca (Joe | ||||||
| 3 | Pavlovec); his four grandchildren, Nigel DeLuca (Allison | ||||||
| 4 | Kelly), Killian DeLuca, Aaron Stadts (Emily Otten), and Adam | ||||||
| 5 | Stadts (Kylee Patterson); his six brothers, Daniel (Dil) | ||||||
| 6 | Stack, Raymond Stack, Michael (Joann) Stack, Bradley (Patti) | ||||||
| 7 | Stack, Anthony (Robin) Stack, and Stephen Stack; his two | ||||||
| 8 | sisters, Kathleen (Dave) Cerny and Anna Marie "Amy" Stack; his | ||||||
| 9 | sister-in-law, Kaye (Richard) Wilson; and many nieces, | ||||||
| 10 | nephews, extended family, and friends; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 12 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 13 | we mourn the passing of
James "Jim" E. Stack Jr. and extend our | ||||||
| 14 | sincere
condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
| 15 | and loved
him; and be it further
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| ||||||
| 17 | presented to the family of Jim Stack as an expression of
our | ||||||
| 18 | deepest sympathy.
