HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, February 19 marks the National Caregivers Day 
3holiday for 2021; created in 2015, this holiday serves to 
4recognize caregivers across the country whose compassionate 
5care enables millions of Americans who are aging or who have a 
6disability to remain as independent as possible in their own 
7homes; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Professional caregivers, who number nearly 4.6 
9million in the United States, and family caregivers, who are 
10estimated at 44 million, are lifelines to millions of 
11Americans who need assistance with medical, personal, and end 
12of life care; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Caregiving has been proclaimed the ultimate form 
14of love and respect, and as a country, we should support and 
15demonstrate our gratitude for caregivers and their role in 
16fulfilling an individual's desire to remain at home; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, The home care industry is among the fastest 
18growing healthcare industries in the United States, and the 
19Home Care Association Illinois Chapter continuously advocates 
20on behalf of our frontline caregivers who have been essential 
21in the fight against COVID-19; and

1    WHEREAS, Caregivers have faced the challenge of COVID-19 
2by not only caring for their clients but also risking their own 
3personal health and safety while doing so; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Home care workers allow families to stay together 
5at home safely and with dignity as they age; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
7HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
8we declare February 19, 2021 as Illinois Caregiver Day; and be 
9it further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That we express our gratitude to Illinois 
11caregivers for their unwavering commitment to the care of 
12their clients and families, especially during the COVID-19 
13pandemic; and be it further
  
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15delivered to the Governor of Illinois and the Director of the 
16Illinois Department of Public Health.
