HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Deputy Chief Kevin Ogden 
4on the occasion of his retirement on March 1, 2021, after 
5almost 31 years with the Rockford Police Department; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Ogden was born to Curt and Elona 
7Ogden of Rockford; he graduated from Northwestern University's 
8Supervision of Police Personnel and School of Police Staff and 
9Command; he is married to Mary, and they have two daughters, 
10Brittany Sheehan and Sarah Murphy; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Ogden began his career as a police 
12officer with the Rockford Police Department on April 9, 1990; 
13he was promoted to investigator in 1998 and assigned to the 
14Investigative Services Bureau Violent Crimes and 
15Identification Unit; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Ogden was promoted to sergeant in 
17June 2009 and assigned to the Fields Services Bureau, M3 
18Streets Team, and Neighborhood Response Unit; he was later 
19reassigned to the Investigative Services Bureau Identification 
20Unit; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Ogden was promoted to assistant

1deputy chief in 2016 and assigned to the Investigative 
2Services Bureau and District 3; he was promoted to deputy 
3chief on February 3, 2020 and assigned to the Administrative 
4Services Bureau; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Ogden's professional accomplishments 
6have not gone without recognition; he received an Exceptional 
7Service Medal for his work in a homicide investigation of four 
8murdered individuals, which resulted in an arrest; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Ogden is a member of the Lindmark 
10Foundation and the Steel Pigs Motorcycle Club; he is also 
11active in fundraising for charitable organizations and 
12community causes; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, In retirement, Deputy Chief Ogden looks forward 
14to spending time with his family and friends, hunting, 
15fishing, and riding his motorcycle; he also looks forward to 
16helping his father with the family business; therefore, be it
  
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
18HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
19we congratulate Deputy Chief Kevin Ogden on the occasion of 
20his retirement, thank him for his many years of service to the 
21people of Rockford and the State of Illinois, and wish him many 
22happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further
