HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Rey B. Gonzalez on 40 
4years of service at El Valor; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Rey Gonzalez retired  as Vice President for 
6Legislative and Community Affairs at ComEd in 2013 and became 
7President and Chief Executive Officer of El Valor; prior to 
8this, he was the Chairman of El Valor's Board of Directors for 
931 years; he joined El Valor when it was just a neighborhood 
10organization operating from a small building in need of 
11repair; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Through Rey Gonzalez's leadership, El Valor has 
13flourished and has become the first bilingual, bicultural 
14rehabilitation center in the State of Illinois; El Valor now 
15serves over 4,000 children, adults, and their families and is  
16the 2nd largest provider of early childhood education in the 
17State of Illinois and a premier facility for adults with 
18disabilities focusing on increasing inclusion and gaining 
19independence; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Rey Gonzalez has been a tireless advocate for 
21social justice; and

1    WHEREAS, Rey Gonzalez has supported and improved the lives 
2of tens of thousands of children, individuals with 
3disabilities, and their families; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
5HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we congratulate Rey B. Gonzalez on 40 years of service at El 
7Valor; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to Rey Gonzalez as a symbol of our respect and 
10esteem.
