HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Commissioner Richard C. 
4Ford II on the occasion of his retirement from the Chicago Fire 
5Department (CFD) after over 35 years of service; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Commissioner Ford was named as Fire Commissioner 
7in September of 2018 by Mayor Rahm Emanuel and has been in 
8charge of over 4800 sworn members and an annual budget of over 
9$578 million; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, After promotion through the ranks to Battalion 
11Chief and before his appointment as Fire Commissioner, 
12Commissioner Ford served as 1st Deputy Fire Commissioner, the 
13department's Safety Officer, the Rail Transit Liaison for the 
14City of Chicago and the Chicago Transit Authority, Assistant 
15Director of Training for the CFD, Deputy District Chief, and 
16Deputy Fire Commissioner of the CFD's Fire Prevention Bureau; 
17and
  
 
  
18    WHEREAS, Commissioner Ford is a graduate of Southern 
19Illinois University; he holds various professional 
20certifications and numerous  specialized training 
21certifications; and

1    WHEREAS, Commissioner Ford has passed along skills, 
2knowledge, and abilities to fire service members in the United 
3States and abroad; he has been faithfully committed to 
4mentoring new firefighters and paramedics and to promoting the 
5advantages of continuing education and obtaining professional 
6certifications; he has developed and implemented a number of 
7fire service initiatives and training programs; therefore, be 
8it
  
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
10HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
11we congratulate Commissioner Richard C. Ford II on the 
12occasion of his retirement from the Chicago Fire Department 
13after over 35 years of service, and we wish him the best in all 
14his future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16presented to Commissioner Ford as a symbol of our respect and 
17esteem.
