| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to recognize the life, achievements, and |
| 4 | | distinguished service of Dr. Ray Hancock; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John A. Logan College is among the most important |
| 6 | | economic engines in southern Illinois; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Throughout its history, John A. Logan College has |
| 8 | | contributed to the betterment of thousands of people and |
| 9 | | families throughout southern Illinois; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Hancock's 46 years of service and leadership |
| 11 | | have provided immeasurable benefits to the development and |
| 12 | | impact of John A. Logan College; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Hancock served John A. Logan College as |
| 14 | | Associate Dean for Baccalaureate Education, Dean for |
| 15 | | Instruction, Vice-President for Administration, President |
| 16 | | (1989-2000), and Board of Trustees Member (2015-2021); and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Hancock served the entire Illinois Community |
| 18 | | College System as a Policy Fellow for the Center for Policy |
| 19 | | Development at the Illinois Community College Board from 2002 |
| 20 | | to 2004 and as President of the Illinois Community College |
|

| 1 | | System Foundation from 2004 to 2014; and
|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The administrators, trustees, faculty, staff, |
| 3 | | students, alumni, and supporters of John A. Logan College are |
| 4 | | thankful to Dr. Hancock for his decades of distinguished and |
| 5 | | honorable service to John A. Logan College; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Hancock has served his fellow man as a Navy |
| 7 | | veteran, VFW supporter, Boy Scout leader, lifelong educator, |
| 8 | | coach, youth recreation director, Rotarian, Sunday school |
| 9 | | teacher, husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated community |
| 10 | | leader in a multitude of different facets, making life better |
| 11 | | for all southern Illinoisans; therefore, be it
|
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 13 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 14 | | we recognize the life, achievements, and distinguished service |
| 15 | | of Dr. Ray Hancock and celebrate the impact of his leadership |
| 16 | | on both John A. Logan College and the entire southern Illinois |
| 17 | | region; and be it further
|
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be |
| 19 | | presented to Dr. Hancock, John A. Logan College, and the John |
| 20 | | A. Logan College Board of Trustees.
