HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Ron Cox on the occasion 
4of his retirement as President of the Amalgamated Transit 
5Union (ATU) Illinois Joint Conference on April 29, 2021; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Ron Cox has held the position of president with 
7the ATU since 2005; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Ron Cox graduated from Manual High School in 
9Peoria in 1975 and went to work for the Greater Peoria Mass 
10Transit in 1981; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Ron Cox became president of ATU Local 412 in July 
121998; he served on the Peoria Labor Council for 20 years, 
13serving as president for one year; he also served on the Labor 
14Temple Board for 20 years and worked with the United Way 
15representing labor unions; and
  
 
  
16    WHEREAS, Ron Cox has been married to his wife, Sharon 
17Biegler Cox, for 41 years; he enjoys riding Harley Davidson 
18motorcycles and spending time at home by the pool with Sharon; 
19he  also holds a Black belt in Tae Keon Do; therefore, be it
  
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE

1HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
2we congratulate Ron Cox on his retirement as President of the 
3Amalgamated Transit Union Illinois Joint Conference, and we 
4wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it

6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to Ron Cox as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
