HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Lawrence Scott Magnuson, who passed away on May 3, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Scott Magnuson was born to Lawrence and Jewel Magnuson on August 31, 1944; he attended Waukegan Township High School; and

WHEREAS, Scott Magnuson's entire career was spent in transportation; he worked as an agent for Greyhound Bus, as president of Lake County Air Freight, as general manager for Heritage Freight Systems, and as division manager for Pace Bus; he retired in March of 2010; and

WHEREAS, Scott Magnuson was known for his love of Honky Tonk country music, classic cars, and motorcycle riding and his devotion to his family; he was married to his wife, Mary Magnuson, for 27 years, and all those years he insisted they have date night every single week; he felt it was good for a marriage to have an evening just for themselves; and

WHEREAS, Scott Magnuson loved hosting his annual family Christmas gathering; he would sit at the head of the table and treasure watching his family enjoying themselves; he loved children and had a knack for communicating with them on their level; he was a Bus Stop Dad, a Bus Stop Grandpa, and a 4 Square partner and included many children in the work he did on various projects; and

WHEREAS, Scott Magnuson had a dynamic personality and impacted many lives; his word was gold, and if you needed help, he would drop whatever he was doing and help; he could either make you laugh so hard you could cry or make you so angry you wanted to throttle him; either way, he did it with a mischievous smile; and

WHEREAS, Scott Magnuson was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Scott Magnuson is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Tracey Lambert, Krystle Noelle, and April Magnuson; his grandchildren, Andrea Lambert and Luca Noelle; his great-grandchild, Jewel Young; his brother, Steve Magnuson; and his sister, Sandi Kangas; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Lawrence Scott Magnuson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Scott Magnuson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
