| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to recognize Edward L. Wilson on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of his 105th birthday; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Edward Wilson was born in Hammond, Louisiana on | ||||||
| 6 | January 30, 1916; he moved to Chicago at the age of 5; he | ||||||
| 7 | graduated from Tilden High School in 1934; he pledged Alpha | ||||||
| 8 | Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. in 1941; he earned a degree in | ||||||
| 9 | Industrial Arts from Western Virginia State University in | ||||||
| 10 | 1943; he married Odessa Polk; he relocated to San Bernardino, | ||||||
| 11 | California, where he worked for the U.S. Army Corps; he | ||||||
| 12 | returned home to Chicago; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Edward Wilson and his business partners opened | ||||||
| 14 | the Practical Trade School in Chicago, teaching television and | ||||||
| 15 | radio repair; he worked as a quality control manager for Cook | ||||||
| 16 | Electric as a biomedical component for NASA, and he worked | ||||||
| 17 | closely on the Apollo missions with NASA; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Edward Wilson then worked as a quality control | ||||||
| 19 | manager for Eaton Corporation, which included manufactured | ||||||
| 20 | electrical components for cars, refrigerators, and stoves; he | ||||||
| 21 | retired in 1985; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Edward Wilson learned to love the game of golf | ||||||
| 2 | late in his life and enjoyed the game until he no longer felt | ||||||
| 3 | comfortable leaving his wife's side; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, During his long and productive lifetime, Edward | ||||||
| 5 | Wilson has demonstrated in countless ways his dedication to | ||||||
| 6 | the welfare of others and has earned the respect and affection | ||||||
| 7 | of people from all walks of life and all ages; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Edward Wilson has lived during the most eventful | ||||||
| 9 | century of this world's history; he has, in his quiet way, been | ||||||
| 10 | an outstanding force for good and a stabilizing influence on | ||||||
| 11 | those around him during these turbulent years; he now enjoys | ||||||
| 12 | spending time with his family; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Edward Wilson is the father of Robert, Bruce, and | ||||||
| 14 | Paula (Bill); the grandfather of nine; the great-grandfather | ||||||
| 15 | of 13; and the great-great-grandfather of four; therefore, be | ||||||
| 16 | it

| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 18 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 19 | we recognize Edward L. Wilson on the occasion of his 105th | ||||||
| 20 | birthday, and we wish him continued peace, good health, and | ||||||
| 21 | happiness; and be it further

| 1 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 2 | presented to Edward Wilson as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
