HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize the Chicago Public Library's 
4Dunning Branch Library and its staff on the occasion of its 
510th anniversary; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Dunning Branch Library opened on land donated 
7by the Chicago Board of Education on May 6, 2011; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, The Dunning Branch Library serves a community 
9that takes its name from an area originally settled just after 
10the Civil War by Andrew Dunning, a farmer-turned-real estate 
11developer; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, The Dunning Branch Library's forward-thinking 
13structure was granted gold certification by the U.S. Green 
14Building Council under the Leadership in Energy and 
15Environmental Design Green Building Rating System; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Since its opening, the Dunning Branch Library has 
17served as a 21st century hub of learning and growth for the 
18community; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, The staff of the Dunning Branch Library have 
20provided years of service by assisting members of the

1community and local students; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, The Dunning Branch Library will continue to be a 
3valuable neighborhood resource that encourages lifelong 
4learning; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
6HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
7we recognize the Dunning Branch Library and its employees on 
8its 10th anniversary, thank the staff for their work in the 
9community, and wish the library many more successful years; 
10and be it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to the Dunning Branch Library as an expression of 
13our esteem and respect.
