HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize the Chicago Public Library's 
4Austin-Irving Branch Library and its staff on the occasion of 
5its 20th anniversary; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Austin-Irving Branch Library opened in 
7Chicago's Portage Park neighborhood on December 8, 2001; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, The 15,500 square-foot Austin-Irving Branch 
9Library immediately expanded services for local residents, 
10replacing a 1,254 square-foot storefront branch; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, The Austin-Irving Branch Library houses a large 
12collection of materials, including books for all ages, 
13newspapers, periodicals, and access to 21st century learning; 
14and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, The dedicated staff of the Austin-Irving Branch 
16Library have provided countless hours of valuable service to 
17the residents and students of the Portage Park neighborhood; 
18and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, The Austin-Irving Branch Library will continue to 
20be a neighborhood centerpiece that encourages lifelong

1learning; therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
3HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
4we recognize the Austin-Irving Branch Library and its staff on 
5its 20th anniversary, thank the staff for their work in the 
6community, and wish the library many more successful years; 
7and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to the Austin-Irving Branch Library as an expression 
10of our esteem and respect.
