| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the American Institute of | ||||||
| 4 | Architects of Illinois on the occasion of its 75th | ||||||
| 5 | anniversary; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, The American Institute of Architects of Illinois, | ||||||
| 7 | as the state component of the national American Institute of | ||||||
| 8 | Architects, was established on October 29, 1946; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, AIA Illinois, located in Springfield, represents | ||||||
| 10 | over 4,200 architects working to build livable, equitable, and | ||||||
| 11 | sustainable communities from Cairo to Chicago; the | ||||||
| 12 | organization is guided by duty and honor to serve its members, | ||||||
| 13 | their clients, and our communities at large; its practicing | ||||||
| 14 | architects consider the health, safety, and welfare of the | ||||||
| 15 | public as impacted by the built environment as their first | ||||||
| 16 | priorities; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, AIA Illinois, as the voice of the architecture | ||||||
| 18 | profession in Illinois, provides a nonpartisan perspective to | ||||||
| 19 | assist in the development of partnerships and public policy | ||||||
| 20 | while recognizing the diversity of communities and interests | ||||||
| 21 | within the State in order to seek common ground to both achieve | ||||||
| 22 | better, safer communities and maximize public investments; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, AIA Illinois' guidance has resulted in the | ||||||
| 2 | strengthening of the State's Architecture Practice Act, | ||||||
| 3 | enacted in 1897 and the first of its kind in the United States, | ||||||
| 4 | which remains a model for practice regulations today; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, AIA Illinois presented 200 Great Places in | ||||||
| 6 | Illinois to commemorate the bicentennial of Illinois' | ||||||
| 7 | statehood in 2018, which were selected by an esteemed | ||||||
| 8 | state-wide committee of architects, local officials, and | ||||||
| 9 | partner organizations to showcase the best of Illinois | ||||||
| 10 | architecture; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Through AIA Illinois, the State's architectural | ||||||
| 12 | legacy continues to grow and expand as its member architects | ||||||
| 13 | across the State provide livable solutions for the way | ||||||
| 14 | citizens live today; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 16 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 17 | we congratulate the American Institute of Architects of | ||||||
| 18 | Illinois on the occasion of its 75th anniversary and wish for | ||||||
| 19 | its continued success; and be it further
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to AIA Illinois as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
