HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Officer 
4Chris Oberheim of Monticello, who passed away on May 19, 2021; 
5and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Officer Oberheim previously worked for the 
7Decatur Police Department; he joined the Champaign Police 
8Department in September 2008, where he served as a dedicated 
9police officer; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, On May 19, 2021, at approximately 3:24 a.m., 
11Officer Oberheim was struck by gunfire while responding to a 
12domestic disturbance in Champaign County; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Office Oberheim was doing his duty to serve, 
14protect, and help provide care before he was killed in the line 
15of duty; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Officer Oberheim was devoted to public service; 
17he will be remembered for his heroism, bravery, and the oath of 
18office he honorably upheld in his commitment to duty; 
19therefore, be it
  
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE

1HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
2we mourn the passing of Officer Chris Oberheim and extend our 
3sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew 
4and loved him; and be it further
  
 
5    RESOLVED, That we honor Officer Oberheim, who gave his 
6life in the performance of his duty, for his heroism and his 
7sacrifice; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
9presented to the family of Officer Oberheim and the Champaign 
10Police Department as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
