| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Dorri McWhorter on being |
| 4 | | named the first woman and first Black CEO of the YMCA of |
| 5 | | Metropolitan Chicago; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Dorri McWhorter received her bachelor's degree in |
| 7 | | Business Administration from the University of |
| 8 | | Wisconsin-Madison; she earned her Master of Business |
| 9 | | Administration from Northwestern University's Kellogg School |
| 10 | | of Management; she received an honorary Doctor of Humane |
| 11 | | Letters from Lake Forest College; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Dorri McWhorter became the CEO of YWCA |
| 13 | | Metropolitan Chicago, the oldest women-focused social service |
| 14 | | organization in Chicago, in March 2013; during her tenure, she |
| 15 | | led the agency into the digital age with the launch of the |
| 16 | | e-commerce platform YShop.org, the health insurance and |
| 17 | | information site womenshealthexchange.org, and the community |
| 18 | | engagement mobile app MPWR; she spearheaded the process of the |
| 19 | | YWCA developing an exchange traded fund (ETF) for women's |
| 20 | | empowerment (NYSE: WOMN) in partnership with Impact Shares, |
| 21 | | which is the first non-profit investment advisor to develop an |
| 22 | | ETF product; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Dorri McWhorter was unanimously nominated for the |
| 2 | | position of CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago by an |
| 3 | | eight-person committee after a national search was conducted |
| 4 | | when the previous CEO stepped down in November 2020; she plans |
| 5 | | to stay aligned to YMCA's mission of youth development, |
| 6 | | healthy living, and social responsibility while expanding to |
| 7 | | meet the needs of a population recovering from the devastating |
| 8 | | COVID-19 pandemic; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Dorri McWhorter serves or has served on the board |
| 10 | | of directors for several organizations, including the American |
| 11 | | Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the |
| 12 | | Illinois CPA Society, the Chicago Center for Arts and |
| 13 | | Technology, 1871 (Technology Business Accelerator), the Civic |
| 14 | | Consulting Alliance, the Civic Federation, Lifeway Foods, |
| 15 | | William Blair Funds, and the Skyway Concession Company |
| 16 | | (Chicago Skyway); she is a member of the Women in |
| 17 | | Entrepreneurship Institute at DePaul University, the Women's |
| 18 | | Philanthropy Institute at Indiana University, and the Illinois |
| 19 | | Charitable Trust Board; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Dorri McWhorter has earned a number of accolades |
| 21 | | during her career; she was named on the inaugural list of The |
| 22 | | Blue Network, which was comprised of the top 100 innovators in |
| 23 | | Chicago by the Chicago Tribune's Blue Sky Innovation; she |
| 24 | | earned the Innovative Leader Award by Good City Chicago; she |

| 1 | | was also inducted into the Chicago Innovation Hall of Fame in |
| 2 | | 2019; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Dorri McWhorter is widely revered in Chicago as a |
| 4 | | champion for women; she is an advocate for both women and |
| 5 | | marginalized people; she prides herself on being a |
| 6 | | socially-conscious business leader and is committed to |
| 7 | | creating an inclusive marketplace by leveraging a multi-sector |
| 8 | | approach across business, civic, and community organizations; |
| 9 | | and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Dorri McWhorter will step into her new role on |
| 11 | | August 2, 2021; therefore, be it
|
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 13 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 14 | | we congratulate Dorri McWhorter on being named CEO of the YMCA |
| 15 | | of Metropolitan Chicago and wish her the best in her new |
| 16 | | position; and be it further

| 17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 18 | | presented to Dorri McWhorter as an expression of our esteem |
| 19 | | and respect.
