HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Flossmoor Station 
4Restaurant & Brewery on the occasion of its 25th anniversary; 
5and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, In 1906, The Illinois Central Railroad built the 
7original building that now houses the Flossmoor Station 
8Restaurant & Brewery when there were only six homes in the 
9community of Flossmoor; the area was a weekend and summer 
10getaway for executives who lived and worked in the city; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS,  Over time, the building became obsolete as a 
12train station and began to fall into disrepair; Flossmoor 
13natives, Dean and Carolyn Armstrong, made the decision to turn 
14the building into a charming establishment that the community 
15could enjoy; they added modern conveniences but preserved as 
16much of the authentic character as possible; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, The Flossmoor Station Restaurant & Brewery opened 
18in 1996 and offers handcrafted beers, a lively atmosphere, and 
19a friendly, knowledgeable staff; to date, their brews have won 
20over 80 awards; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, The Flossmoor Station Restaurant and Brewery also

1offers gourmet pub food that combines quality fare with a host 
2of locally-sourced seasonal specials and  keeps customers 
3returning again and again; therefore, be it
  
 
  
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
5HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we congratulate the Flossmoor Station Restaurant & Brewery on 
7its 25th anniversary, and we wish them many more wonderful 
8years; and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to Dean and Carolyn Armstrong as a symbol of our 
11respect and esteem.
