HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Officer 
4Ella G. French of Chicago, who was killed in the line of duty 
5on August 7, 2021; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Officer French was born on August 31, 1991; she 
7was adopted by Elizabeth French; she graduated from Downers 
8Grove North High School in 2009; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Officer French was appointed to the Chicago 
10Police Department on April 16, 2018; during her probationary 
11period, she trained in the 11th and 12th Districts; she later 
12worked in the 10th District and on the Summer Mobile Patrol; 
13she was working on the Community Safety Team at the time of her 
14passing; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Officer French was an exceptional officer and a 
16remarkable person of integrity who cared for her community; 
17during her career, she earned a department commendation, a 
18physical fitness award, and 14 honorable mentions; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Officer French was a daughter, sister, and 
20friend; she will be remembered for her selflessness, kindness, 
21and courage in the line of duty; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
2HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3we mourn the passing of Officer Ella G. French and extend our 
4sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew 
5and loved her; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the family of Officer French as an expression of 
8our deepest sympathy.
