HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Mark Guethle on the 
4occasion of his retirement from the Painters Union District 
5Council #30; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Mark Guethle attended trade school at the George 
7Meany Center before being hired as an apprentice for the 
8Painters Union District Council #14; he worked as a painter 
9and wallpaper hanger; he became an organizer for the 
10International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) 
11District Council #30 in 1997; he was hired as the director of 
12Government Affairs for Painters Union District Council #30, 
13Local Union #97, in 2002;  he was instrumental in securing 
14money for apprenticeship programs and efforts to diversify the 
15IUPAT District Council #30's workforce; he retired in 
16September 2020; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Mark Guethle was elected Kane County Democratic 
18Chairman in 2002, where he still serves; he has organized 
19labor walks and phone bank operations for numerous candidates; 
20he has served as a delegate to the Democratic National 
21Convention several times; he served as a state central 
22committeeman for the 14th Congressional District; he has 
23helped with roll calls on many issues at the federal, state,

1county, and municipal levels; his strong leadership, 
2organizing, and fundraising capabilities have built a strong 
3political organization for Kane County's Democratic Party; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Mark Guethle was elected to the North Aurora 
5Village Board in 2003, and he still serves; he also serves as 
6the chair of Operations; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Mark Guethle is an accomplished musician, and he 
8plays the guitar at two different churches; he belongs to the 
9North Aurora Lions Club; he enjoys seeing bands perform, 
10basking in his pool, and cheering on Chicago sports teams; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Mark Guethle is the husband of Louise, the father 
12of Marcus (Katie) and Brian, and the grandfather of four 
13granddaughters; therefore, be it
  
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
15HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
16we congratulate Mark Guethle on his retirement from the 
17Painters Union District Council #30 and wish him all the best 
18in his future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
20presented to Mark Guethle as an expression of our esteem and 
21respect.
