| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Marion |
| 4 | | Browe Keller, who passed away on August 1, 2021; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Marion Keller was born to James Browe and |
| 6 | | Celestine Jones Sullivan in New Orleans, Louisiana on October |
| 7 | | 14, 1930; as a young girl, she worked at a dry cleaners where |
| 8 | | her love of sewing grew; she married Herbert Keller Sr. and |
| 9 | | relocated to Chicago; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Marion Keller was a stay-at-home mom who doted on |
| 11 | | her children and was filled with pride for their |
| 12 | | accomplishments; she was a loving disciplinarian and taught |
| 13 | | her children many valuable lessons, including to respect their |
| 14 | | elders and teachers, to be kind, and to judge people by their |
| 15 | | character; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Marion Keller was a master seamstress who could |
| 17 | | construct special occasion garments from a mere picture; her |
| 18 | | skill was unmatched, and her reputation was known throughout |
| 19 | | the Chicagoland area; in her later years, she began to |
| 20 | | contribute her skills in costume design, construction, and |
| 21 | | alterations to dance ministries, churches, Endure charities, |
| 22 | | and the Chicago Bulls; she loved shopping, especially at her |

| 1 | | favorite stores, which included JoAnn Fabrics, Sears, The |
| 2 | | Dollar Store, Aldi, and K-Mart; she was an entrepreneur and |
| 3 | | master saver, always pinching pennies for a rainy day; she was |
| 4 | | a domestic chef who could create an amazing meal with three |
| 5 | | ingredients or less; she was especially known for her gumbo |
| 6 | | and pralines for special occasions; her favorite holiday was |
| 7 | | Christmas, and she prepared for it all year long; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Marion Keller was preceded in death by her |
| 9 | | parents; her stepfather, Joseph "Papa" Chambers; and Louis |
| 10 | | Whitfield Sullivan II, Johnny John Sullivan, Dione Keller |
| 11 | | (daughter), Rev. Ira Harper (fiance), Herbert Keller Sr., |
| 12 | | Stella Joseph; and Lucy Sullivan Louis; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Marion Keller is survived by her sister, Cora |
| 14 | | Kelly; her children, James Keller Sr., Herbert Keller Jr. |
| 15 | | (Debra), Steven Keller, Maria Keller-Bell, Tony Keller |
| 16 | | (Valerie), Norman Keller, and Kim Keller Tyler; her
|
| 17 | | grandchildren, Aisha Keller-Moore, Tremaine Keller (Katrina), |
| 18 | | Crystal Joseph-Stark (James), James Keller Jr., Tiffany Bell, |
| 19 | | Pierre Bell (Breanna), Christopher Keller, Kendall Keller, |
| 20 | | Tarik Garrett, Anthony Keller, Briana Keller, Chloe Keller, |
| 21 | | Madison Toni Tyler, Terrance Steven Keller, and Jerry Keller; |

| 4 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 5 | | we mourn the passing of Marion Browe Keller and extend our |
| 6 | | sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew |
| 7 | | and loved her; and be it further

| 8 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 9 | | presented to the family of Marion Keller as an expression of |
| 10 | | our deepest sympathy.
