| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Marion |
| 4 | | Louise "Penny" Sullivan Smith, who passed away on September |
| 5 | | 15, 2021; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Marion Smith was born to the union of Roosevelt |
| 7 | | Pluitt and Ethel Sullivan in Chicago on September 15, 1933; |
| 8 | | she was raised in what is now known as the Bronzeville area of |
| 9 | | Chicago; she graduated from DuSable High School; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Marion Smith was pursued by several modeling |
| 11 | | agencies and considered law school after high school; however, |
| 12 | | her love for family led her to begin a family of her own; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Marion Smith was a hard worker with many talents; |
| 14 | | she could sew and construct anything; her home was always |
| 15 | | known as a showplace to all who visited; she will be remembered |
| 16 | | for being a strong family person who loved everyone and |
| 17 | | everyone loved; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Marion Smith was preceded in death by her |
| 19 | | siblings, Roosevelt Pluitt Jr., Ethel, Dorothy, Charles, |
| 20 | | Constance, and Othello; she was also preceded in death by |
| 21 | | three children, Lolita Smith-Oliver, Michael Smith, and Freddy |
