HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives would like to recognize Deputy Tyler Post of 
4the Grundy County Sheriff's Office for his courage as he was 
5shot on October 7, 2021 while pursuing an offender; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Deputy Post was initiating a traffic stop on 
7Illinois Route 47 when the vehicle attempted to flee before 
8crashing; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, The offender ran from the crash on foot at which 
10time he fired four shots, three of which hit Deputy Post; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Despite his injuries, Deputy Post displayed 
12resilience as he radioed for help, including a description of 
13the individual fleeing the scene; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, While Deputy Post  was being treated for his 
15injuries, his peers at the Grundy County Sheriff's Office, 
16Illinois State Police, hostage negotiators, Will County SWAT 
17Team, and other local law enforcement agencies were able find 
18the injured suspect hiding in an apartment complex; he was 
19arrested without incident; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Deputy Post's selfless actions led to the arrest

1of Mr. Demarcus Denwiddie, who has been charged with six 
2counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, three counts of 
3Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and three counts of 
4Aggravated Battery; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, The citizens of Grundy County are safer because 
6of Officer Post and other law enforcement officials; 
7therefore, be it
  
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
9HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
10we commend Deputy Tyler Post for his courageous and selfless 
11acts; and be it further
  
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13presented to the family of Deputy Post as a token of our 
14appreciation.
