| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives would like to recognize Deputy Tyler Post of |
| 4 | | the Grundy County Sheriff's Office for his courage as he was |
| 5 | | shot on October 7, 2021 while pursuing an offender; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Post was initiating a traffic stop on |
| 7 | | Illinois Route 47 when the vehicle attempted to flee before |
| 8 | | crashing; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, The offender ran from the crash on foot at which |
| 10 | | time he fired four shots, three of which hit Deputy Post; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Despite his injuries, Deputy Post displayed |
| 12 | | resilience as he radioed for help, including a description of |
| 13 | | the individual fleeing the scene; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, While Deputy Post was being treated for his |
| 15 | | injuries, his peers at the Grundy County Sheriff's Office, |
| 16 | | Illinois State Police, hostage negotiators, Will County SWAT |
| 17 | | Team, and other local law enforcement agencies were able find |
| 18 | | the injured suspect hiding in an apartment complex; he was |
| 19 | | arrested without incident; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Post's selfless actions led to the arrest |
