| 2 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Majority Leader Mary E. Flowers has been a |
| 3 | | healthcare champion in Illinois since her first day in office; |

| 5 | | WHEREAS, During her more than three decades in the |
| 6 | | Illinois General Assembly, Leader Flowers has accomplished |
| 7 | | significant change to help disadvantaged Illinoisans obtain |
| 8 | | needed health care; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Because of Leader Flowers' leadership and her |
| 10 | | focus on health equity, she was the first chairwoman of the |
| 11 | | House Health Care Availability and Access Committee in 1997; |
| 12 | | and

| 13 | | WHEREAS, HB 1779, sponsored by Leaders Flowers, passed |
| 14 | | unanimously out of the House Insurance committee and out of |
| 15 | | the House chamber; and

| 16 | | WHEREAS, With Leader Flowers' strong resolve, Illinois |
| 17 | | became the first state to pass comprehensive biomarker |
| 18 | | testing, which will help Illinoisans receive access to the |
| 19 | | right treatment at the right time; and
