HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois  is strengthened by  its many 
3residents who all bring different perspectives and life 
4experiences; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, On November 12, 2021, Richard "Dick" Albert 
6Ladner, a resident of Palatine, celebrated his 100th birthday; 
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Richard Ladner  was born in Chicago in 1921 and 
9has spent the majority of his life living in the Chicago area, 
10including his college years in which he attended and graduated 
11from Loyola University; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Richard Ladner served his country during World 
13War II as an auto mechanic stationed in Europe; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Richard Ladner married his sweetheart, Mary Helen 
15"Babe" Michiels, in 1945, and they celebrated 73 wonderful 
16years together; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Richard Ladner and his wife graced the world with 
18eight children, Phillip, Mark, Madeleine, Barbara, Carl, 
19Marie, Paul, and Karen; and

1    WHEREAS, Richard Ladner's eight children have graced the 
2world with 23 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren;; 
3and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, The Village of Palatine  and the State of Illinois 
5are better  and stronger  because of residents like Richard 
6Ladner and the contributions they have made to others over 
7many years of service and sacrifice; therefore, be it
  
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
9HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
10we congratulate Richard "Dick" Albert Ladner on his 100th 
11birthday and thank him for his service and his contributions 
12to his family, his community, and his country; and be it 
13further
  
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to Richard Ladner as a symbol of our respect and 
16esteem.
