HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Kevin Flaugher on the 
4occasion of his retirement as fire chief of the Maryville Fire 
5Department and as building and zoning administrator of the 
6Village of Maryville; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Kevin Flaugher was born and raised in Maryville; 
8and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Kevin Flaugher began his career as a volunteer 
10firefighter and has been a member of the Maryville Fire 
11Department since 1984; he became fire chief in 1995; he was 
12appointed as building and zoning administrator for the village 
13in 1996; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, During his tenure, Kevin Flaugher upgraded 
15Maryville's EMS service to paramedic level and instituted a 
1624-hour EMS service to better serve village residents; he also 
17handled a number of major events, including the tragic 
18shooting at First Baptist Church in 2009 and the natural gas 
19explosion on Route 162 in 2016; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Kevin Flaugher has served the Village of 
21Maryville for the past 37 years; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
2HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3we congratulate Kevin Flaugher on his retirement and commend 
4him for his commitment to the Village of Maryville and the 
5surrounding community; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to Kevin Flaugher as an expression of our esteem and 
8respect.
