HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the members of Grupo 
4Firme on the occasion of winning their first Latin Grammy at 
5the 2021 Latin Grammy Awards; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Grupo Firme won its first-ever Latin Grammy for 
7Best Banda Album with its set Nos Divertimos Logrando lo 
8Imposible; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Grupo Firme is a young, Regional Mexican group 
10comprised of Eduin Caz, Abraham Hernandez, Johnny Caz, Joaquin 
11Ruiz, Christian Gutierrez, Jose Rubio, and Dylan Camacho; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Grupo Firme originally formed as Grupo Fuerza in 
13Tijuana, Mexico in spring 2013; the group changed its name to 
14Grupo Firme in 2014; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Grupo Firme was considered an underground act for 
16the informal way the group created and delivered its music, 
17improvising at pisteadas and carne assadas, loosely translated 
18as get-togethers, and posting videos on social media; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, In addition to winning the Grammy, Grupo Firme 
20performed two songs, "Me Gustas"  and "Ya Superame", at the

122nd Latin GRAMMY Awards, which was held at the MGM Grand 
2Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 18, 2021; 
3therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
5HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we congratulate the members of Grupo Firme on winning their 
7first Latin Grammy, and we wish the group continued success; 
8and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to Grupo Firme as an expression of our esteem and 
11respect.
