| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Marjorie |
| 4 | | Ruth Fujara, M.D., who passed away on October 19, 2021; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Fujara was born to Harold and Marianne Fujara |
| 6 | | of Chicago; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Fujara graduated from St. Juliana's and |
| 8 | | Resurrection High School in Chicago and received her Bachelor |
| 9 | | of Arts from the University of Illinois in Champaign; she |
| 10 | | received her medical degree from the University of Illinois in |
| 11 | | Chicago and completed her pediatric residency at the |
| 12 | | University of Minnesota in Minneapolis; and |
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Fujara was board certified in both Pediatrics |
| 14 | | and Child Abuse Pediatrics; as a pediatrician with Stroger |
| 15 | | Hospital of Cook County, she served as Acting Director of the |
| 16 | | Division of Child and Family Wellness and Medical Director of |
| 17 | | the Chicago Children's Advocacy Center; she was recognized |
| 18 | | with many awards and accolades for her work with victims of |
| 19 | | child abuse and family violence; she was a Fellow in the |
| 20 | | American Academy of Pediatrics; and |
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Fujara was an activist at heart and a |

| 1 | | tireless advocate for the rights of children; she worked |
| 2 | | endlessly to prevent all forms of violence that affected the |
| 3 | | most vulnerable in our communities, children, low-income, and |
| 4 | | marginalized people; she always showed kindness and compassion |
| 5 | | and was passionate about social justice, including gun |
| 6 | | violence prevention; and |
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Fujara was always positive and hopeful, even |
| 8 | | in the face of life's challenges and bitter hardships; she was |
| 9 | | an eternal optimist and looked for the good in everything; she |
| 10 | | was selfless in her caring for others; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Fujara was a beloved and caring wife, mother, |
| 12 | | sister, aunt, and friend; the love, kindness, goodness, and |
| 13 | | light she brought to the world will shine on forever; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Fujara is survived by her husband, Karl; her |
| 15 | | children, Judson, Sam, Mariana, and Jacob; two brothers; her |
| 16 | | nieces; her nephew; and many other family members and friends |
| 17 | | who loved her dearly; therefore, be it
|
| 18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 19 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 20 | | we mourn the passing of Marjorie Ruth Fujara, M.D. and extend |
| 21 | | our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who |
| 22 | | knew and loved her; and be it further
