HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Daron Richard "D.T." Tunks of Peoria and Conley, Georgia, who passed away on January 11, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Daron Tunks was born to Richard Martin and Barbara Ann (Carlson) Tunks in Peoria on July 21, 1967; he was raised in Peoria, where he received his education from District 150 schools; he attended Calvin Coolidge Grammar School and several high schools before earning his G.E.D.; he attended Bradley University, where he became a member of the Epsilon Kappa chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and served as Anchor #6 of S.S. Determination in Spring 1987; he received his bachelor's degree from Robert Morris College; he married Shann Lindsey in Peoria on June 1, 1995; and

WHEREAS, Daron Tunks was the sole owner and operator of Tunks & Sons Delivery; he began his business as a furniture delivery company in 2003 before evolving it into an intrastate moving company in 2007; and

WHEREAS, Daron Tunks was baptized at Mount Zion Baptist Church on January 23, 2000; he was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church, where he belonged to the Drama Ministry; and

WHEREAS, Daron Tunks loved singing, gambling, and playing pool; he was an avid chess player; he was a devoted and loving husband and a protective father; he will be remembered as the protector of his family and a comedian to his friends; and

WHEREAS, Daron Tunks was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; and

WHEREAS, Daron Tunks is survived by his wife and partner of 35 years, La Shann Monise Tunks; his children, Tyshell Tanae', Kevin Benard, Jade Marie, Deja Monise, Daron Richard II, and Jaron Calvin; his grandchildren, Maliyah Marie-Vonsae, Shyla Redina-Chante', Jhase Anthony Richard, Dominik Braxton-Lee, Melodi La'Rae, Lyric Ka'Mari Ann, Jewel Denise, JeQuez De'Audrey II, Daron Richard III, Nyla Joi Monise, and Jaron Calvin II; his sisters, Dawn Elizabeth (John), Rose Marie (Gregory), and Linda Kathleen (Michael); and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws, surrogate sons, fraternity brothers, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Daron Richard "D.T." Tunks and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Daron Tunks as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
