| 6 | | WHEREAS, Vicente Fernandez inspired generations of |
| 7 | | families to share Mexican culture and traditions, including |
| 8 | | all over the State of Illinois, which he visited on several |
| 9 | | occasions; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Vicente Fernandez was born on February 17, 1940 |
| 11 | | in Huentitlan Jalisco, the area known as the cradle and origin |
| 12 | | of Mariachi music, representative of celebratory occasions for |
| 13 | | Mexican families; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Vicente Fernandez participated in and sponsored |
| 15 | | Tres Potrillos Charro Teams and the Charro sporting tradition |
| 16 | | in Mexico and all over the world; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Vicente Fernandez came from humble beginnings and |
| 18 | | persevered, creating a successful singing career that included |
| 19 | | over 50 million records sold and an acting career in which he |
| 20 | | was featured in over 30 films; and
|
