HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives with to congratulate Lynda G. Washington of Sauk Village on the occasion of her 65th birthday; and

WHEREAS, Lynda Washington was born in Chicago on February 11, 1957; her father was the late Pastor E. R. Allen of the Christ Bible Center in Chicago; she holds an honorary Doctorate of Divinity from the H.O.P.E. Bible Institute and Seminary; and

WHEREAS, Lynda Washington worked as an administrative assistant for West-Harvey School District 147 for 30 years and was A.F.S.C.M.E. president for Local 93 for 12 years; and

WHEREAS, Lynda Washington has been a pastor with J.I.L.O.T. A. Worldwide Ministries, Inc. and has preached in many states by invitation; she was a member of Christ Bible Center, where she served in many capacities and is currently a member of the Family Christian Center in Munster, Indiana; she also works within the Dr. Lynda G. Washington Ministries, Inc, a not-for-profit organization; and

WHEREAS, Lynda Washington has been a community activist for over 45 years in the Chicagoland area; she co-founded the KEL-LAW Foundation, Inc., which has provided over 25 years of community services for area youth; she has also been involved with the Democratic Women of the South Suburbs, registering voters and developing programs; and

WHEREAS, Lynda Washington was elected as a Trustee for Sauk Village and served for five years; she was a member of the Human Relations Commission; she also chaired her neighborhood watch for 10 years and was part of the Rainbow Push Coalition for 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Lynda Washington has been a radio and television personality for over 45 years and is currently the founder and co-host with David Santiago of the RE-YOU Show; she authored the book, He'll Turn Your Tears to Diamonds, and has produced records, hosted events at many venues, and planned many events and trips for seniors, as well as Thanksgiving and Christmas toy drives in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Lynda Washington is the mother of Kenneth R. Washington II and the grandmother of Kenneth R. Washington III, Christian, Gabriel, and Hannah Washington; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Lynda G. Washington of Sauk Village on her 65th birthday, and we wish her many more wonderful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Lynda Washington as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
