| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate OMNI Youth Services on | ||||||
| 4 | the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, OMNI Youth Services was founded on June 29, 1972 | ||||||
| 6 | by a concerned group of community members determined to | ||||||
| 7 | provide a 24-hour hotline for Wheeling youth in mental health | ||||||
| 8 | crisis; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, To meet the needs of the Wheeling community and | ||||||
| 10 | surrounding area, OMNI Youth Services rapidly expanded its | ||||||
| 11 | mission to providing affordable and accessible mental health | ||||||
| 12 | services and counseling to children and youth in need in the | ||||||
| 13 | Northwest Chicago suburbs; and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, The dedication of the OMNI Youth Services team | ||||||
| 15 | and partnerships with individuals, businesses, and community | ||||||
| 16 | organizations have allowed OMNI Youth Services to continue to | ||||||
| 17 | grow and serve its communities; and | ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, OMNI Youth Services has impacted the lives of | ||||||
| 19 | over 750,000 Illinois residents during its 50 years of service | ||||||
| 20 | and has served in over 85 different Illinois communities, | ||||||
| 21 | working independently and at times in partnership with | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | organizations such as DCFS, local municipalities, police | ||||||
| 2 | departments, and juvenile justice systems; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, America is in a youth mental health crisis so | ||||||
| 4 | extensive and pervasive that the U.S. Surgeon General released | ||||||
| 5 | an Advisory on the Status of Youth Mental Health to help | ||||||
| 6 | educate and draw attention to the immense need America's youth | ||||||
| 7 | have for mental health services; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, The State of Illinois supports all residents and | ||||||
| 9 | youth who are in need of mental health services and wants them | ||||||
| 10 | to receive these services in an safe and accessible way, | ||||||
| 11 | whether to treat a mental illness, keep a family intact, or | ||||||
| 12 | start on the road of substance use recovery; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, OMNI Youth Services has provided necessary and | ||||||
| 14 | effective mental health services for 50 years and continues to | ||||||
| 15 | do so; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 17 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 18 | we declare June 29, 2022 as "OMNI YOUTH SERVICES DAY" in the | ||||||
| 19 | State of Illinois; and be it further | ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That we congratulate OMNI Youth Services on its | ||||||
| 21 | 50th anniversary; and be it further
| ||||||

| 1 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 2 | presented to OMNI Youth Services as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
| 3 | esteem.
