| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate the 2021-2022 Richland |
| 4 | | County Middle School Basketball Team, the Cubs, on winning the |
| 5 | | 2022 SIJHSAA (Southern Illinois Junior High School Athletic |
| 6 | | Association) Class L State Championship; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, The Cubs "Finished the Mission" by defeating |
| 8 | | Marion Junior High School 53-38 in the championship game on |
| 9 | | February, 18, 2022 at Rend Lake College; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, The Cubs shot 28 of 43 from the field for a 65% |
| 11 | | field goal percentage and grabbed 23 offensive rebounds, which |
| 12 | | led to 18 put-back points; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, The Cubs defeated Mt. Carmel 66 to 40 in the |
| 14 | | Regional Semifinal, defeated Flora 70 to 41 in the Regional |
| 15 | | Championship, defeated Belleville West 57 to 48 in the State |
| 16 | | Quarterfinals, and defeated Mt. Vernon 58 to 31 in the State |
| 17 | | Semifinals; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, The Cubs compiled an undefeated record of 25 wins |
| 19 | | and 0 losses, had a Junior North Egypt Conference record of 5 |
| 20 | | wins and 0 losses, and took 1st place at the Olney Pre-Season |
| 21 | | Tournament; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, The Cubs are led by Head Coach Collin Michael |
| 2 | | Klingler, Assistant Coach Dakotah Lee Brown, Manager Conner |

| 4 | | WHEREAS, The Cubs team members are Carsyn Laine Ameter, |
| 5 | | Reid Bradford Brown, Gavyn Wayne Cothern, Nicco Lee |
| 6 | | Fehrenbacher, Reese Thomas Glover, Brandon Henry Green, Ryan |
| 7 | | Doan Kirby, Reed Lawrence Klingler, Jaylan Misao Mitchell, |
| 8 | | Ayden Curtis Nealis, Ian Mitchell Pianfetti, Mason Lane Riggs, |
| 9 | | Zander James Schrader, Casey Andrew Thomann, Jakoby James |
| 10 | | VanDyke, and Xavior Matthew Zuber; and

| 11 | | WHEREAS, Jaylan Mitchell and Casey Thomann both received |
| 12 | | All-State nominations; and

| 13 | | WHEREAS, Gavyn Cothern, Jaylan Mitchell, and Casey Thomann |
| 14 | | received all All-Star game nominations; and

| 15 | | WHEREAS, The Cubs have made SIJHSAA State Tournament |
| 16 | | appearances in 2006, 2009, 2013, and 2019, placing 4th in |
| 17 | | 2019; their previous best finish was 2nd in 2006; therefore, |
| 18 | | be it

| 20 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
