HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize Shawn C. Gillis for his 
4service to the Midlothian Fire Department, having served his 
5community with pride and dedication for 25 years, ultimately 
6earning the rank of lieutenant; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Shawn C. Gillis has also served the Midlothian 
8Professional Firefighters Local 3148 (the Local) for 25 years;  
9he has held numerous leadership positions within the Local, 
10including that of secretary, treasurer, and, for  many years, 
11president; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Shawn C. Gillis has served the Associated Fire 
13Fighters of Illinois (AFFI) for nearly 15 years, giving 
14selflessly of his knowledge and experience; he served in many 
15roles throughout his career with the AFFI, including his most 
16recent role as chief technology officer; his expertise has 
17helped the 15,000 members be properly equipped at the 
18bargaining table, as he assisted members to understand, 
19resolve, and advance grievances; he has also generously 
20offered assistance in creating exhibits and data to help 
21AFFI's membership prepare for mediation and arbitration when 
22called upon and has simply been an outstanding advocate for 
23the members and his profession; and

1    WHEREAS, Shawn C. Gillis will finally get the opportunity 
2to enjoy his much earned retirement, including having the time 
3to regularly travel with his wife and children to Universal 
4Studios, their favorite place, as well as getting to continue 
5working on passion projects related to  all things technology 
6and data driven; therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
8HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
9we recognize Shawn C. Gillis for his service to the Midlothian 
10Fire Department and the Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois, 
11thank him for his continued dedication to the community and 
12its members, and wish him and his loved ones nothing but the 
13best of everything that life has to offer; and be it further
  
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to Shawn C. Gillis as symbol of our esteem and 
16respect.
