| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Mike |
| 4 | | Campbell of Edwardsville, who passed away on May 20, 2022; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mike Campbell was born to Les and Doris (Meni) |
| 6 | | Campbell on March 17, 1945; he was one of six brothers and |
| 7 | | sisters, which included a twin brother; he graduated from |
| 8 | | Collinsville High School in 1963 and served in the U.S. Air |
| 9 | | Force from 1963 to 1967 at San Vito dei Normanni Air Station in |
| 10 | | Brindisi, Italy; he then received multiple degrees from |
| 11 | | Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, including a Master |
| 12 | | of Science in City Planning; he married Myra Highlander at |
| 13 | | Eden Church on November 23, 1974; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Mike Campbell developed a love of farming while |
| 15 | | learning from his father-in-law, Herb Highlander, and he |
| 16 | | subsequently farmed for 48 years; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Mike Campbell had a calling for public service |
| 18 | | that would combine his wealth of knowledge related to |
| 19 | | agriculture, city planning, and government; his many |
| 20 | | accomplishments included serving as President of the Madison |
| 21 | | County Farm Bureau, Chairman of the Madison County Zoning |
| 22 | | Board, Chairman of the Edwardsville Democratic Precinct |

| 1 | | Committee, Supervisor of Edwardsville Township, Chairman of |
| 2 | | the Agricultural Advisory Committee, and Director of Special |
| 3 | | Projects for former U.S. Representative Jerry Costello; he was |
| 4 | | a member of the Executive Committee of the Southwestern |
| 5 | | Illinois Planning Commission and a member of the U.S Secretary |
| 6 | | of Agriculture's Advisory Committee; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, In addition to his love for family, farming and |
| 8 | | public service, Mike Campbell was an avid reader and history |
| 9 | | buff; he also developed many close friendships throughout the |
| 10 | | years; visits, phone calls, and laughs meant the world to him; |
| 11 | | and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Mike Campbell was preceded in death by his |
| 13 | | parents; his sister, Sharon Taylor; his father-in-law and |
| 14 | | mother-in-law, Herb and Eunice Highlander; his sisters-in-law, |
| 15 | | Sherlyn Witt, Molly Campbell, and Venita Campbell; and his |
| 16 | | brothers-in-law, Paul Witt, Al Duhr, and Ron Highlander; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Mike Campbell is survived by his wife, Myra; his |
| 18 | | children, Travis (Brooke) Campbell and Tara (Michael) Lotz; |
| 19 | | his grandchildren, Mason, Eowynn, Brayden, and Alexander; his |
| 20 | | brothers, Jerry and Pat Campbell; his sisters, Kathy Tracy and |
| 21 | | Peggy Duhr; his sister-in-law, Shirley Highlander; and |
| 22 | | numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

| 1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 2 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 3 | | we mourn the passing of Mike Campbell and extend our sincere |
| 4 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
| 5 | | him; and be it further
|
| 6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 7 | | presented to the family of Mike Campbell as an expression of |
| 8 | | our deepest sympathy.
