HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, As it is important to show appreciation to 
3citizens that go above and beyond to protect and help others, 
4the members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to 
5recognize Kenneth Tharp for his selfless actions on June 27, 
62022 that saved the life of a young child; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Kenneth and Mary Tharp of New Boston were boating 
8on the Mississippi River when they heard screams coming from 
9the water; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Moving to the area from which the screams were 
11coming, the couple saw a child, five-year old Mia Baker, who 
12had been swept away in the current and was in the water nearly 
13100 yards from shore; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, With no hesitation, Kenneth Tharp jumped into the 
15Mississippi River to rescue the young child from drowning; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Thanks to Kenneth Tharp's decisive actions, he 
17was able to rescue Mia Baker; therefore, be it
  
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
19HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
20we recognize  Kenneth Tharp for his quick and selfless actions

1that saved the life of Mia Baker; and be it further
  
 
2    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
3presented to Kenneth Tharp as an expression of our esteem and 
4respect.
