| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Cercelia |
| 4 | | Catherine Jones, who passed away on July 22, 2022; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Cercelia Jones was born to Carlee Jones and |
| 6 | | Roosevelt Jones at the Cook County Hospital on June 16, 1952; |
| 7 | | she attended St. Athengia Church from preschool through eighth |
| 8 | | grade and joined a mentoring program at Christ the King in her |
| 9 | | early teen years; she graduated from Lucy Flowers High School; |
| 10 | | she earned her associate's degree from Mayfair College; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Cercelia Jones previously worked at U.S. Bank, |
| 12 | | where she was named the number one teller and head seller; she |
| 13 | | held a number of jobs, including at Iden Press, Jewel Osco, |
| 14 | | ComEd, and the First National Bank of Oak Park; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Cercelia Jones was named one of the West Side |
| 16 | | Women of Wisdom and Inspiration in 2018; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Cercelia Jones committed to her faith at a young |
| 18 | | age; she was baptized as an infant at St. Athengia Church and |
| 19 | | later joined a baptismal Catholic church; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Cercelia Jones enjoyed watching The Bachelorette |
|

| 1 | | and game shows; she loved the Backstreet Boys song "I Want It |
| 2 | | That Way", taking pictures, and living in the moment; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Cercelia Jones was preceded in death by her |
| 4 | | parents; her grandmother, Maddie Sharky; her brothers, Lionel |
| 5 | | Jones and Larry Jones; and her son, Rashawn Jones; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Cercelia Jones is survived by her sisters, |
| 7 | | Patricia Barlow, Cherie Pennington, and Debra Jones; her |
| 8 | | special niece and daughter, Natalie Jones; her nephew, |
| 9 | | Tammaris Jones; her granddaughters; her great-nieces, Destiny |
| 10 | | (Kay Kay), Nevaeh, Angel, Nalanni, and Debriyah; her grandsons |
| 11 | | and nephews, Jemmaris Jones, Rashaun Jones, Tammaris Jones, |
| 12 | | Tasser Jones, and Pharoah Jones; her best friend, Deborah |
| 13 | | Williams; her special brother, Herbert Mason; and a host of |
| 14 | | cousins, family, and friends; therefore, be it

| 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 16 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 17 | | we mourn the passing of
Cercelia Catherine Jones and extend |
| 18 | | our sincere
condolences to her family, friends, and all who |
| 19 | | knew and loved
her; and be it further
