| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to recognize the Theta Mu Lambda | ||||||
| 4 | Charitable Foundation on the occasion of it hosting the 31st | ||||||
| 5 | Annual Black and Gold Scholarship Gala; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, The Theta Mu Lambda Charitable Foundation is a | ||||||
| 7 | not-for-profit entity of the Theta Mu Lambda Chapter of Alpha | ||||||
| 8 | Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, The Annual Black and Gold Scholarship Gala raises | ||||||
| 10 | funds in order to continue providing educational resources and | ||||||
| 11 | scholarships for young African American students to expand | ||||||
| 12 | their scholastic opportunities; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Alpha Phi Alpha firmly believes in creating | ||||||
| 14 | resources, leadership skills, and tools for youth to realize | ||||||
| 15 | their full potential; the fraternity is dedicated to building | ||||||
| 16 | a foundation for the educational and personal development of | ||||||
| 17 | future leaders; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Alpha Phi Alpha provides many community services, | ||||||
| 19 | including scholarship awards funded by the Theta Mu Lambda | ||||||
| 20 | Charitable Foundation in excess of $200,000 to date, the | ||||||
| 21 | Leaders of Tomorrow mentorship program that provides | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | mentorship and personal development through a six-month long | ||||||
| 2 | program, Project Alpha leadership training, college tours, and | ||||||
| 3 | many other educational programs; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, The Annual Black and Gold Scholarship Gala's | ||||||
| 5 | program theme for this year is "Pursuit of Excellence in | ||||||
| 6 | Education"; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, The Annual Black and Gold Scholarship Gala will | ||||||
| 8 | honor community leaders with the Impact Award for their work | ||||||
| 9 | with youth; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, The 31st Annual Black and Gold Scholarship Gala | ||||||
| 11 | will be held at the Odyssey Country Club on November 5, 2022; | ||||||
| 12 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 14 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 15 | we recognize the Theta Mu Lambda Charitable Foundation on its | ||||||
| 16 | 31st Annual Black and Gold Scholarship Gala, and we wish the | ||||||
| 17 | foundation many more years of success; and be it further
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to the Theta Mu Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha | ||||||
| 20 | Fraternity, Incorporated as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 21 | respect.
