| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the Veterans Assistance | ||||||
| 4 | Commission of Kendall County (VACKC) on the occasion of its 20 | ||||||
| 5 | years in service; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, The VACKC, in response to the need in the local | ||||||
| 7 | veteran community for financial assistance and processing | ||||||
| 8 | Veterans Affairs (VA) claims, was founded in December 2002; | ||||||
| 9 | and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Pursuant to the Military Veterans Assistance Act | ||||||
| 11 | (MVAA), the VACKC has served since its inception as the | ||||||
| 12 | central office in providing needed services to Kendall | ||||||
| 13 | County's veterans and their families; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, The staff of the VACKC works diligently in the | ||||||
| 15 | community to educate veterans and their families about the | ||||||
| 16 | resources available to them, thereby significantly increasing | ||||||
| 17 | awareness of both the office and veterans issues over the last | ||||||
| 18 | several years; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Throughout the years, the VACKC has assisted | ||||||
| 20 | veterans and their families in a number of ways, including | ||||||
| 21 | thwarting numerous evictions and home foreclosures, retaining | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | or restoring electricity and heating, and providing financial | ||||||
| 2 | assistance to veterans and their families for food and | ||||||
| 3 | necessities; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Federal dollars paid to Kendall County veterans | ||||||
| 5 | or their survivors through VA compensation and pension | ||||||
| 6 | benefits now totals more than $21 million per year, just shy of | ||||||
| 7 | $2 million in new monies this year-to-date; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, In terms of the VACKC's return on investment to | ||||||
| 9 | the community, for every taxpayer dollar levied to the | ||||||
| 10 | organization, just over $66.00 is brought back to Kendall | ||||||
| 11 | County through VA benefits earned and acquired by veterans | ||||||
| 12 | through the efforts of VACKC staff; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 14 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 15 | we congratulate the Veterans Assistance Commission of Kendall | ||||||
| 16 | County (VACKC) on its 20th anniversary and wish the | ||||||
| 17 | organization continued success in the years to come; and be it | ||||||
| 18 | further

| 19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 20 | presented to the VACKC as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 21 | respect.
