| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
|
| 3 | | Representatives wish to recognize Blondell Plumbing on |
| 4 | | providing 120 years of service to the Quad Cities
community; |
| 5 | | and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Blondell Plumbing was originally founded as |
| 7 | | Swanson Plumbing by Victor Swanson in 1902; in the century |
| 8 | | that
followed, the business was passed down to family members |
| 9 | | three times,
first to Victor's daughter Marion in 1941, then |
| 10 | | to
Walt Blondell in the mid-1960s, and finally to Walt's son |
| 11 | | Steve in 2002; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Blondell Plumbing gained its current name in |
| 13 | | 1941; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Blondell Plumbing's various owners have invested |
| 15 | | much of their own time and energy
in learning, practicing, and |
| 16 | | sharing their knowledge of their trade, with many entering the |
| 17 | | trade and business directly after finishing school and |
| 18 | | continuing to help around the business well into retirement; |
| 19 | | the business
has also served as a great place of education for |
| 20 | | the next generations of
tradesmen through its apprenticeship |
| 21 | | programs with the Local 25 Union; and
|
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Blondell Plumbing has been crucial to the |
| 2 | | completion of
many area projects in the Quad Cities, including |
| 3 | | residential and commercial buildings;
the business' team has |
| 4 | | also helped to build a community of respect, cooperation, and
|
| 5 | | friendship among various contractors in the area through |
| 6 | | collaboration on
large projects; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Blondell Plumbing has developed a reputation as |
| 8 | | an upstanding
and reliable business within the community |
| 9 | | through cultivating relationships
with clients in the |
| 10 | | community over several generations, permitting the business
to |
| 11 | | continue to rely solely on word-of-mouth advertising; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, With the retirement of Blondell Plumbing's |
| 13 | | current owner, Steve Blondell, in 2022,
the business will |
| 14 | | close after over a century of operating in Moline; therefore, |
| 15 | | be it
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 17 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 18 | | we recognize and thank Blondell Plumbing for serving
the Quad |
| 19 | | Cities community for the past 120 years; and be it further
|
| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
|
| 21 | | presented to the owners of Blondell Plumbing as a symbol of our
|
| 22 | | respect and esteem.
