HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Hyatt Magazine on the 
4occasion of its 10th anniversary; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Hyatt Magazine is a free social and cultural 
6magazine published monthly, featuring events, entertainment, 
7lifestyle, business data, leisure, and lore; it is available 
8by print, online, and through most social media outlets;  and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Hyatt Magazine was founded by Dr. Mazen Barakat, 
10M.D., MHA, in May 2012, with the vision to build a world class 
11and reputable media institution in the United States to 
12connect Middle Eastern communities together, strengthening 
13their social, cultural, and economical aspects, while building 
14social, cultural, and economical bridges with other 
15communities; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Hyatt Magazine released its first publication in 
17June 2012, initially being distributed to Chicagoland areas 
18and surrounding suburbs before expanding to cover northwest 
19Indiana in 2015 and then the Milwaukee area of  southeast 
20Wisconsin in 2016; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, Hyatt Magazine, striving to fulfill its vision

1statement, began communicating and building bridges with other 
2communities and ethnicities in 2017; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Hyatt Magazine hosted seven successful and 
4productive seminars on women's empowerment and leadership in 
52019; the publication initiated a movement to support women's 
6education and job placement through preparing to continue 
7hosting seminars in 2020, but the project was halted when the 
8nation was struck by the COVID-19 pandemic; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Hyatt Magazine launched the English version of 
10its podcast division in 2021 and prepared to introduce an 
11Arabic version; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Hyatt Magazine endorsed and supported its Public 
13Relations Director Tasneem Abuzir as she successfully ran for 
14a trustee position in the Palos Township in 2021, becoming the 
15first Middle-Eastern person to hold an elected office in 
16Chicagoland; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Hyatt Magazine celebrated its 10-year anniversary 
18in October 2022; therefore, be it
  
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
20HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
21we congratulate Hyatt Magazine on the occasion of its 10th

1anniversary, and we wish the publication continued success; 
2and be it further
  
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
4presented to Hyatt Magazine as an expression of our esteem and 
5respect.
