| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Derwin Lee Ryker on the |
| 4 | | occasion of his retirement from law enforcement in Illinois |
| 5 | | after 41 years of dedicated service; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Lee Ryker served in the U.S. Air Force from 1972 |
| 7 | | to 1976; he was stationed in Thailand, where he loaded |
| 8 | | munitions ordinances on F-4 Phantoms and achieved the rank of |
| 9 | | sergeant; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Lee Ryker began his career in law enforcement as |
| 11 | | a jailer for the Richland County Sheriff's Office; he then |
| 12 | | worked as a police officer for the City of Olney from 1979 to |
| 13 | | 1984; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Lee Ryker served as deputy and chief deputy of |
| 15 | | the Clay County Sheriff's Office from 1984 to 1990; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Lee Ryker was elected four times and served as |
| 17 | | sheriff of Clay County from 1990 to 2005; during this time, he |
| 18 | | served as a Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) instructor |
| 19 | | in Clay County Schools and a chaplain, and he was later elected |
| 20 | | as president of the Illinois Sheriff's Association; and
