| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Mildred |
| 4 | | Bowden, who passed away on December 12, 2022; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mildred Bowden was born in Apex, North Carolina |
| 6 | | on April 8, 1921; she was 18 months old when she arrived in |
| 7 | | Chicago and lived on the South Side of Chicago since that time; |
| 8 | | and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Mildred Bowden worked at the Rhumboggie Cafe on |
| 10 | | 55th Street, which was owned by boxing great Joe Louis; she |
| 11 | | also worked as an intake supervisor at Cook County Hospital |
| 12 | | for 30 years; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Mildred Bowden life spanned 19 presidents, 18 |
| 14 | | governors, and 16 mayors; her favorite president was Theodore |
| 15 | | Roosevelt, because she felt that every American benefited from |
| 16 | | his service; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Mildred Bowden was a faithful member of and |
| 18 | | fundraiser for Christ Universal Temple; she especially loved |
| 19 | | celebrating Christmas and served her family Christmas dinner |
| 20 | | for 50 years; and
