HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate State Representative and Deputy Minority Leader Dan Brady on his distinguished service to Illinois' 105th District and the people of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Leader Brady began his first term in the Illinois House in January 2001, representing a central Illinois district encompassing parts of several counties and municipalities, including the towns of Bloomington and Normal; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Leader Brady was named to the House Republican leadership team as Republican Caucus Chair in 2003 and then named Assistant Minority Leader in 2008; he was named Deputy House Republican Leader in 2017; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Leader Brady has been a champion for families in his district, as well as local communities, employers, and institutions; he quickly earned the nickname "Representative Everywhere" for his determination to attend many large and small events throughout the district to meet face to face with and help as many constituents as possible; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Leader Brady is a true "Yankee Doodle Dandy", born on the 4th of July, and, if called upon, would sing Yankee Doodle Dandy at 4th of July parades and events; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Leader Brady introduced a wide range of initiatives to make life better for Illinois families, including measures to expand organ and tissue donor registries, to help secure classrooms from school intruders, and to expand e-learning programs for senior drivers; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Leader Brady made improving Illinois government a top priority, introducing measures to increase state budget accountability, enact real reforms to hold state legislators to the highest ethical standards, and abolish Lame Duck sessions of the General Assembly; in addition, he introduced the resolution beginning House impeachment proceedings against former Governor Rod Blagojevich; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Leader Brady was recognized for his extraordinary leadership by a variety of organizations and is a repeated recipient of awards including the ACTIVATOR Friend of Agriculture Award, the National Federation of Independent Business Guardian of Small Business Award, and the Illinois Chamber of Commerce Champion of Free Enterprise Award; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Leader Brady is a partner and funeral director at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington; prior to being elected State Representative, he was elected as McLean County Coroner in 1992 and re-elected in 1996; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Leader Brady received his Bachelor of Arts from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa and his Associate Degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Leader Brady and his wife, Teri, have two children and reside in Bloomington; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Deputy Minority Leader Dan Brady on making a positive difference in the lives of the people he represented and all across Illinois, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Deputy Leader Brady as an expression of our esteem and respect.
