HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate our colleague, 
4Representative Mark Luft, on his distinguished service to the 
5people of the 91st district; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Representative Luft joined the Illinois House of 
7Representatives on January 13, 2021 after a long and ongoing 
8career of service to the people of his community; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Representative Luft served our nation for seven 
10years in the United States Army Reserves; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Representative Luft has devoted his life to 
12public service, whether it was running the Pekin Junior 
13Football League, serving on the city council, or serving now 
14as mayor; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Representative Luft was a tireless advocate for 
16children with disabilities and for veterans during his time in 
17the General Assembly, passing important legislation to ensure 
18that the State's veterans assistance programs were doing their 
19utmost to fulfill the promises made to our veterans; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, After returning home from Springfield,

1Representative Luft will continue in his capacity as the mayor 
2of his lifelong hometown of Pekin; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Representative Luft has fought for fiscal 
4responsibility, ethics reform, support for law enforcement, 
5and improvements in the quality of life for all Illinoisans; 
6therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
8HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
9we wish to thank Representative Mark Luft for his service to 
10the people of his district and all of Illinois, and we extend 
11to him, his wife, Lelonie, and their five children all of our 
12best wishes for happiness and success in the years to come; and 
13be it further
  
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to Representative Luft as an expression of our 
16esteem and respect.
