AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 928 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 928 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:


 
4    "Section 5. The Illinois Highway Code is amended by adding 
5Section 6-145 as follows:
 
6    (605 ILCS 5/6-145 new)
7    Sec. 6-145. Abolishing a road district in Centreville 
8Township. The Centreville Township Road District in St. Clair 
9County is abolished on the expiration of the term of office of 
10the highway commissioner of the road district.
11    On the date of abolition: all the rights, powers, duties, 
12assets, property, liabilities, obligations, and 
13responsibilities of the road district shall by operation of 
14law vest in and be assumed by Centreville Township; the 
15township board of trustees shall assume all taxing authority 
16of the road district abolished under this Section and shall

1exercise all duties and responsibilities of the highway 
2commissioner as provided in this Code; and for purposes of 
3distribution of revenue, the township shall assume the powers, 
4duties, and obligations of the road district. The township 
5board of trustees may enter into a contract with the county, a 
6municipality, or a private contractor to administer the roads 
7added to its jurisdiction under this Section. 
 
8    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
9becoming law.".
