| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by |
| 5 | | changing Section 4-1.12 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (305 ILCS 5/4-1.12)
|
| 7 | | Sec. 4-1.12. Five year limitation. No assistance unit |
| 8 | | shall be eligible for a cash grant under this Article
if it |
| 9 | | includes an adult who has received cash assistance as an adult |
| 10 | | for 60
months, whether or not consecutive, after the
the |
| 11 | | effective date of this amendatory
Act of 1997. The Illinois |
| 12 | | Department may exempt individual assistance units
from the |
| 13 | | 60-month limitation or determine circumstances under which a |
| 14 | | month or
months would not count towards the 60-month |
| 15 | | limitation even though the
assistance unit did receive cash |
| 16 | | assistance under this Article. |
