| 4 | | "Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by by |
| 5 | | adding Section 5-5.12d as follows:

| 6 | | (305 ILCS 5/5-5.12d new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 5-5.12d. Prescription drugs for mental illness; no |
| 8 | | utilization or prior approval mandates. Notwithstanding any |
| 9 | | other provision of this Code to the contrary, for the purpose |
| 10 | | of removing barriers to the timely treatment of serious mental |
| 11 | | illnesses, insurance cost containment prior authorization |
| 12 | | mandates and insurance utilization management controls shall |
| 13 | | not be imposed under the fee-for-service and managed care |
| 14 | | medical assistance programs on any FDA approved prescription |
| 15 | | drug that is recognized by a generally accepted standard |
| 16 | | medical reference as effective in the treatment of conditions |
