| 4 | | "Section 5. The Nurse Practice Act is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 60-45 as follows:

| 6 | | (225 ILCS 65/60-45 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 60-45. State agency registered nurse hiring; |
| 8 | | accreditation. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the |
| 9 | | contrary, when hiring a registered nurse, no State agency |
| 10 | | shall take into consideration the accreditation status of the |
| 11 | | nursing school or program of the applicant if he or she |
| 12 | | graduated from a nursing program at a State-funded public |
| 13 | | college or university in Illinois and is licensed as a |
| 14 | | registered nurse by the Department under this Act.".
