AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1672 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1672 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:

 
4    "Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended  by 
5adding Section 143.10d as follows:
 
6    (215 ILCS 5/143.10d new)
7    Sec. 143.10d. Homeowner's liability insurance.
8    (a)   An insurer that issues a policy or contract insuring 
9against liability for injury to any person or against 
10liability for injury to or destruction of property, arising 
11out of ownership or lease of residential one, 2, 3, or 4 
12dwelling real property, may not cancel or refuse to issue or 
13renew that kind of policy or contract based solely upon the 
14harboring of a specific breed or mix of pet dog upon the 
15insured property. The insurer must state in writing the reason 
16for cancelling or refusing to issue or renew that kind of

1policy.
2    (b)   All insurers issuing any policies or contracts 
3insuring against liability for injury to any person or against 
4liability for injury to or destruction of property, arising 
5out of ownership or lease of residential one, 2, 3, or 4 
6dwelling real property must file with the Director of 
7Insurance a list of breeds and mixes of dogs that they will not 
8insure by December 31, 2021. The Director of Insurance shall 
9publish the insurance company name and the list of dog breeds 
10on the Department of Insurance's website by March 31, 2022 and 
11shall request data supporting the list of dog breeds 
12excluded.".
