AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2664




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2664 as follows:


 
3on page 41, by replacing lines 21 and 22 with the following:
 
4    "(a)   Any commissioned notary public may perform any 
5notarial act described under Section 6-102 remotely, after 
6first determining, either from personal knowledge or from 
7satisfactory evidence, that the signature is that of the 
8person appearing before the notary and named therein.  A notary 
9public has satisfactory evidence that a person is the person 
10whose true signature is on a document if that person:
11        (1) is personally known to the notary;
12        (2) is identified upon the oath or affirmation of a 
13    credible witness personally known to the notary; or
14        (3) is identified on the basis of identification 
15    documents.  Identification documents are documents that are 
16    (i) valid at the time of the notarial act, (ii) issued by a

1    State agency, federal government agency, or consulate, and 
2    (iii) bearing the photographic image of the individual's 
3    face and signature of the individual.".
