| 1 | | AN ACT concerning transportation.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 6-101.5 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (625 ILCS 5/6-101.5 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 6-101.5. Digital driver's licenses. The Secretary of |
| 8 | | State shall continue to monitor developments pertaining to |
| 9 | | digital driver's licenses and shall deliver a report to the |
| 10 | | General Assembly concerning these developments on or before |
| 11 | | December 31, 2022. The report shall include, but not be |
| 12 | | limited to: (1) advancements in technology standards necessary |
| 13 | | for the implementation of a digital driver's license; (2) |
| 14 | | production information on other states offering a digital |
| 15 | | driver's license to qualified drivers in their jurisdictions; |
| 16 | | and (3) advancements in the interoperability of digital |
| 17 | | driver's licenses. |
| 18 | | This Section is repealed on January 1, 2024.

| 19 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 20 | | becoming law.
